Constraints reveal the business
Building and entrepreneurship
Abundant resources can hide weak thinking.
When capital, people, and time are limited, the real business becomes easier to see. Which customer matters most? Which problem is painful enough to pay for? Which capability must be exceptional, and which can remain merely adequate?
Constraints force decisions that strategy presentations often avoid.
I do not romanticise scarcity. A company can be starved of the resources it genuinely needs. But there is a useful kind of pressure that removes decorative work and exposes the essential mechanism beneath it.
If the business only makes sense when every assumption is generous, it probably does not make sense yet.
