Discipline should reduce negotiation
Ambition, character, and personal growth
The value of discipline is not constant self-denial.
It is the reduction of repeated negotiation. A decision made once through a routine, boundary, or environment no longer needs to be remade every morning.
This frees attention for work that genuinely requires judgement.
If a system demands heroic willpower every day, it is probably not a system yet. Good discipline eventually feels less dramatic because the desired action has become the path of least resistance.
