Every interface carries an opinion

Technology and artificial intelligence

No interface is neutral.

Every default, notification, ranking, and button quietly tells the user what deserves attention. The product may look passive, but its design is constantly shaping behaviour.

This is why product decisions are also moral decisions. If a system rewards outrage, compulsion, or speed, it should not surprise us when those behaviours grow. If it creates room for reflection, agency, and understanding, different habits become possible.

Design is often discussed as if it were decoration added after the important decisions have been made. In reality, design is where many of the most important decisions become real.
