A good business earns the right to wait

Investing, economics, and compounding

Patience is easier when the business does useful work while you wait.

A strong company reinvests, deepens customer relationships, improves its economics, and expands its advantage. Time becomes an ally because the underlying value is changing.

With a weak business, waiting is merely exposure. The passage of time does not repair poor economics.

This is why holding period cannot be separated from business quality. “Long term” is not a virtue on its own.

The asset must earn the right to be held.
