Intelligence is becoming infrastructure

Technology and artificial intelligence

We are used to thinking of intelligence as a scarce quality attached to particular people.

AI turns it into something closer to infrastructure. It can be called when needed, embedded inside a product, and multiplied at very low cost.

This does not make human judgement irrelevant. It makes judgement more valuable. When answers become abundant, choosing the right question matters more. When production becomes easy, taste and direction become harder to fake.

The companies that understand this will not merely automate tasks. They will decide which forms of judgement must remain human, which can be delegated, and how the two should work together.

That is an organisational question as much as a technical one.
