A life cannot be optimised as one system
Ambition, character, and personal growth
Work, health, family, friendship, learning, and rest do not share one clean objective function.
An improvement in one area can create a cost in another. The trade-offs change across seasons. What looks inefficient from the perspective of work may be essential from the perspective of a relationship.
This is why life resists permanent optimisation. It requires judgement, revision, and the acceptance that some values cannot be converted into a common unit.
A balanced life is not one in which every area receives equal time. It is one in which the imbalance is chosen consciously and corrected before it becomes neglect.
