The mind seeks predictable peace
Psychology and human behaviour
Some people seek novelty. Others seek a steady state so intensely that disruption feels larger than the event itself.
I recognise this instinct in myself. When life has contained enough unpredictability, the mind can begin treating control as safety. A change of plan is no longer a small inconvenience. It becomes a threat to the peace you worked hard to create.
The response is not to abandon structure. Structure can be healthy. The work is noticing when a preference for order becomes an inability to tolerate life.
Peace that depends on nothing unexpected happening is a fragile kind of peace.
