You cannot delegate the hard clarity
Leadership and organisations
Founders should delegate work. They cannot delegate clarity.
Someone has to decide what the company is trying to become, which customer it will disappoint, and where limited attention will go. Those decisions can be informed by a team, but they cannot be dissolved into a committee.
Delegation fails when the leader passes down ambiguity and expects execution to repair it.
The hardest part of leadership is often sitting with conflicting information long enough to make the trade-off visible. Once the choice is clear, many people can help carry it forward.
Before asking whether the team executed well, ask whether the leadership made the problem clear enough to execute.
